Preventing and Fixing Mistakes (3 hours) (advanced beginner)

Class Description

Become the boss of your knitting! Study the anatomy of a stitch, then apply what you’ve learned to correct a variety of common knitting mistakes including twisted stitches, dropped stitches, split stitches, and holes. Learn to safely tear back a stitch, a row, or an acre of knitting without losing your cool. Gain confidence and enjoy your knitting even more!

(Must be comfortable knitting and purling.)

  • Holes (from dropped stitches, yarn-overs, short rows)
  • Tearing back stitch by stitch
  • Tearing back multiple rows

Supplies needed

  • 50 gms smooth, variegated, cotton, #4 (worsted-weight) yarn (comparable to Sugar ‘n Cream or Peaches ‘n Cream)
  • US 7 (4.5 mm) double-pointed needles, approximately 7″ (18 cm) in length
  • 1 yd (1 m) smooth, contrasting-colored, scrap yarn
  • Blunt darning needle
  • G (4 mm) crochet hook

Homework

Cast on 15 stitches. Knit 4 rows (garter stitch). Do not bind off.
