Fair Isle (Bowl or Bag)

Class Description

The Fair Isle technique has been around for centuries, but can easily be learned within a couple of hours. Practice knitting in the round with two colors (one in each hand) while making a colorful little bag or bowl (recommended yarn will be enough to complete two projects). Discover the beauty of corrugated ribbing, then learn to read charts like a pro and to trap those pesky floats.

Supplies needed

  • worsted-weight wool: one skein each in two contrasting colors
  • US 7 16” circular needle (measured from tip to tip)
  • US 7 double-pointed needles
  • stitch markers
  • blunt darning needle
  • scissors

Homework

With 16″ circular needle and MC, cast on 80 stitches. Place marker and join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. Knit 3 rounds.
